In my life as a photographer, here in the Mayan Riviera, I have had the opportunity to see almost all of the cenotes in the area. I say almost all of them because in the Riviera, there are always new places to be discovered.
Each cenote has a different personality and magical energy.
On a photographic level, the possibilities for creating are endless.
Playing with natural light is one of my great passions. In this type of setting, where the light of the jungle and it´s crystalline waters work with the mystical energy of the region to make up the perfect combination of natural beauty and deep connection for a stunning photography session.
You will not regret experiencing these unforgettable natural wonders and the connection that you feel while you are there. When choosing one of these magical cenotes to visit, it is important to know specific details about them before making a quick decision on which is right for you.
I would like to share some of my favorite cenotes to acheive the most amazing setting for a dream ceremony, the perfect session, or a spectacular trash the dress.
Buho Playa del Carmen: Located on the road that connects Cancun and Tulum, this cenote is among my favorites. It is small, private, and ideal for intimate weddings or elopements
The cave is wonderful for taking photos because of its delicate light and magical rock walls that reflect the splendor of nature. This environment of fresh, deep and crystal clear waters is the perfect place for a romantic and private ceremony.
Cristalino Cenote in Akumal : This cenote is located on the road that connects Akumal and Tulum. It is one of the most wonderful cenotes to do sessions at – both outside of and underwater
The magic of this cenote is that, within it, there are various depths, spaces and colors, providing endless possibilities when it comes to creativity within a session.
This is one of the most visited cenotes in the Riviera, which is why we advise to visit or schedule a session in the morning. Morning is your best option at Cristalino to be able to take advantage of the soft natural morning light that enters through the lush jungle surrounding it.
A morning visit also ensure less of a crowd, and thus, you can calmly achieve an enriching experience and unforgettable images.
Aldea Hatsut cenote in Playa del Carmen: This cenote is located in Playa del Carmen.
It is a wonderful place for ceremonies since it has a stage located in the middle of its crystalline waters.
It is surrounded by a breathtaking backdrop of rocky walls and rich vegetation.
To access it, you must take a reflective and purifying walk approximately one kilometer through the jungle.
This allows you to work with the energy of the space and creates a deeper spiritual connection.
Taak bi ha cave cenote Tulum: This cenote is a covered cenote, which provides a mystical and soft light that feeds the creation of photos with a highly spiritual feeling
The cenote Tank Bi Ha is Located on the Riviera Maya in Tulum, just 40 minutes from Playa del Carmen and 20 minutes from Tulum, this cenote is located in the Dos ojos park that offers five cenotes in Mexico, all worth visiting.
Cenote Azul Puerto Aventura: Nestled in a lush natural garden of tropical vegetation the Cenote Azul is one of the most beautiful hidden treasures of the Riviera Maya. If I had to choose one among all the Riviera Maya Cenotes (open, not cave cenotes) I would pick this one.
Cenote Eden (o Jardin del Eden) Reviera Maya: Located on the road Playa del Carmen and Akumal is one of my favorite in the area, although I normally find cave cenotes more appealing, Cenote Eden is quite fascinating too. It’s a huge round body of water surrounded by lush generous vegetation. You can see the beautifully shaped rocks emerging from the deep bottom through the emerald crystalline water.
Gran Cenote Tulum: The Grand Cenote is one of the most popular and, for a reason. It is, in fact, one of the most beautiful of the Riviera Maya, one of the reasons being the fact that half of it is open and the other is inside a cave. It is located on the road between Tulum and Coba. looking for an experienced cenote photographer to capture your romantic Cenote ceremony? Send us a message through our contact form or email us here …
